Welcome

Associate Professor Karin Speedy

Kia ora koutou and welcome to Speedy Research & Consulting. My name is Karin Speedy and I have been an academic in France, Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand for nearly 20 years. I am excited to bring together my interdisciplinary expertise in history, French, literary studies, linguistics and translation as well as my extensive leadership, advisory, and mentoring skills that I gained in the academic world to my research and consulting business.

I offer a range of services – the writing and communication of histories, more general humanities and social sciences research, writing for different purposes and publics, editing, copy editing, consulting, French to English translation and teaching. I can help individuals, academics, students, companies, non-profits, universities and other institutes of learning, authors, film and documentary makers, and government agencies, for example.

I am bilingual in English and French, am an accomplished literary translator, and have excellent cross-cultural awareness. My own scholarship sits at the intersections of Pacific and Francophone colonial/postcolonial/decolonial history, writing, linguistics, and translation. In 2013 I was awarded the John Dunmore Medal by the New Zealand Federation of Alliances Françaises in recognition of my major contribution to knowledge of French language and culture in the Pacific. I have a particularly deep knowledge of Kanaky New Caledonia’s history, languages, and literature.

I invite you to explore the different skills, knowledge and services I can bring you below. You will also find a link to my blog and you can access my CV here. My contact details are at the bottom of this page. I look forward to hearing from you soon. À bientôt !
